Touring Tours

Bonsoir!

We walked our feet off again today, taking a walk through the town, discovering the giant Cathedral St, Gatien. The cathedral is in the midst of this mediaeval city, full of 15th and 16th century houses, and little passages that lead to the river, one of which was used to lead the condemned to their place of public execution.

A short walk down these streets took us to the 'old town' part of Tours, an authentic labyrinth of ancient streets, alleys and miniature squares with wood framed 14th, 15th and 16th century houses. There are quirky streets everywhere, with strange names such as 'serpent volant' (the flying serpent), 'rue des Balais' (Brooms) and 'rue de Petit Soleil' (little sun).

Today was made even more pleasant because of sunshine!! Viva la France!

Au revoir!
